David’s Wednesday Word:

I like binoculars. I use them to see if my trash has been picked up! (I have to put my trash a third of a mile away from my home.)

Telescopes can see much farther. The James Webb Space Telescope launched in 2021. Based on the standard Big Bang timeline, it can “see” into the past to less than 300 million years after the Big Bang.

Astronomers who embrace the Big Bang expected the earliest galaxies to be small and still forming. Webb found some of those “early” galaxies that were brighter, larger, and more organized than many models predicted.

Well… that created a BIG problem! Some scientists are now actively revising their explanations of how galaxies could have developed so quickly.

Based on what the Bible says, I have no problem with what Webb has found. I do not know how God did it, but I firmly believe that He created everything—including perhaps more than one trillion galaxies in the observable universe!

Job describes God spreading the skies—a description that causes me to wonder about the evidence we now see. The Bible shares this idea over and over again (see a list here!).

I was not there when God created, but I have become very comfortable accepting at face value that the earth is young—and that includes all of creation.

I choose to follow Jesus. Jesus affirmed God as Creator, the account of Genesis, and the authority of Scripture. Some things make more sense when I trust the Bible is true and reliable—even what it says about creation.

Prayer: Creator God, many people cannot accept that You made it all. I do. I believe Your Word, and I marvel at evidence that continues to challenge human understanding.
